Jessica and I have gone to a few movies lately, and I have been negligent reporting my opinions of these films to my faithful readers. I know how you all hang on my every word, and I apologize for leaving you hanging for so long!
- School of Rock: Jack Black's much anticipated return to the big screen. I am a huge Jack Black fan, I'll admit. But I think his agent deserves an ass-whuppin for putting him in movies like Orange County. With School of Rock, Jack returns to what is obviously close to his own heart, rock and roll baby! All of his best roles have involved music in some fashion, as I observed previously. School of Rock was no let-down, I enjoyed the hell out of it. While the plot is predictable as all hell, you can't help but giggle at Jack's character as he tries to instill the religion of rock and roll into his students. This is Jack's best work since Saving Silverman, and I highly recommend it. The sound track should kick ass. Too bad I'm not buying CDs these days (do you hear me RIAA?)
- Matrix Revolutions: Well, it was better than the 2nd one, I'll give it that. But nothing can top the first movie. At some point the fighting became a bit meaningless, especially in the 2nd movie. Neo is invulnerable, why is he even fighting Smith in the 2nd movie? And the plot holes in the last movie are so big you can drive a truck through them. I think my feeble brain was too overwhelmed to really grasp the deep sociological message of this trilogy. Hopefully I'll have figured it out by the time it comes out on DVD next year. It's still worth seeing, because the effects are pretty cool, and so is the soundtrack. But don't expect to come out of there saying “Oh, so THAT'S what was going on!“ because I left with almost as many questions and I went in with. But then again, maybe you are smarter than I.
Hmm, I thought we saw something else, but I can't remember it now. It'll come to me.
