Over the weekend I saw a link on InstaPundit about Roger Simon calling Bill Gates a moral weakling for agreeing to the Chinese government's rules about using words like “democracy” and “freedom” on MSN Spaces blogs set up by Chinese citizens.
I disagree.
Microsoft's stance on this issue leave the Chinese people with a communication channel (MSN Spaces) that can still be used to further their cause. Even if they have to use the word “cabbage” when they mean “democracy”. No democratic movement in the history of mankind has ever stalled just because the word “democracy” could not be uttered.
I'd also like to point out, as one of Roger's commenters also did, that if Walmart was a country, they'd be China's 8th largest trading partner. Something like 80% of the goods in a Walmart store come directly from China.
I bet you've got more Chinese shit in your house than Bill Gates has in his.
